transgenderism

It seems to me (and many, many others) that gender has NEVER been a black and white, binary arrangement… Look at almost anyone, and you can clearly see a mix of gender expressions on view… I, personally, present fairly clearly as cis-gendered, but have never felt “all masculine…” and have felt secretive and ashamed as a result. These “straight lines” simply don’t exist in nature.

I, however, can “pass” as a “gender normative” person, where many others cannot. The violence, hatred and intolerance in this country makes it obviously dangerous to stand out in this way. We have been fed so many strange, indecipherable lies about who we’re supposed to be - I guess primarily by the church - bringing these deeply personal and private issues into a some discussion of “morality” and “sin.” Each of us, apparently, is meant to stand in judgment before the Almighty and list our expressions of gender and sexuality through our lives like confessions of guilt… Of course, it’s impossible to see what the moral crime being perpetrated actually is - because there’s nothing there, there: only the shifting (and shifty) “laws” being handed out by opportunistic political and religious leaders who prey upon the base fears of the populace… and we are disallowed any true dialogue…

In the “land of the free,” there sure are a lot of prisons - of the mind and of the body… What a disastrous, unloving and hateful waste of time and energy about something so beautiful and essential. Be strong - be whoever and whatever you actually are, as fully as you can manage to be. Easy to say, difficult to do.
